The bulk of this series consists of copies of outgoing correspondence signed by John Foster Dulles and sent to recipients within the Federal government, individuals in private life and some foreign government officials. It is supplemented by memorandums of Dulles' conversations with various officials within the executive branch of government, congressmen, foreign government officials and private individuals. Incoming letters are rarely found within this series. This documentation ranges from routine brief acknowledgement letters to substantive letters and memorandums reflecting Dulles' views on foreign policy matters and international relations.
